Fabric Guide: Choosing the Right Cloth for Kurtis, Co-ords and Dresses

Cotton cambric or rayon? Chanderi or georgette? How our design team chooses the cloth behind every Deziyre piece — and how to care for it.

Fabric Guide: Choosing the Right Cloth for Kurtis, Co-ords and Dresses

The fabric decides most of how a garment looks, feels and lasts. Here's how we choose at Deziyre — and what it means for the piece you'll wear.

Cotton cambric

Crisp, breathable and print-friendly. Ideal for daily-wear kurtis, shirt-style tops and summer co-ords. Takes block and digital prints beautifully. We pre-wash so it won't shrink on you.

Rayon / viscose

Soft drape, vibrant colours, wallet-friendly. The workhorse for flared kurtis, palazzos and printed co-ords. We stitch it with fine needles and proper interlining so it drapes without puckering.

Chanderi

Sheer, lightweight with a natural sheen — the festive favourite. Perfect for kurtas with zari borders, dupattas and occasion sets. Always lined, always finished by hand.

Muslin (mulmul)

Ultra-soft and airy. Beautiful for tiered dresses, anarkalis and resort wear. Best with chikankari or delicate prints.

Linen and linen blends

Premium, textured, cool. The go-to for wide-leg trousers and structured co-ords. Pure linen creases; a linen-viscose blend keeps the look with less fuss.

Georgette, crepe and chiffon

Fluid and flattering — for wrap tops, dresses and dupattas. Georgette holds embroidery well; crepe gives clean structure; chiffon is for layers and sheer sleeves.

Satin and organza

Our premium dress line lives here. Satin for slip and evening dresses; organza for sleeves, overlays and festive dupattas. Both are finished by our most experienced hands.
